“Happy as Larry?” LOL!
you don’t have that expression over there in the US ?
Noooo…LOL!
On the internet, there is this expression: “Wut???”
For those in warmer zones , this maybe of some interest. I was given a China rose called Ten Thousand Lights
[attachment 1084 TTL.jpg] as you can see the foliage is very China and clean which I crossed with David Lowing.
[attachment 1085 DAVLOW.jpg] The pollinator David Lowing (Altissimo X Playboy) typical modern foliage and thorny.
[attachment 1086 0112i4j.jpg]The offspring demonstrating foliage which does not represent either parent. I am hoping it stays healthy for me.
Good foliage on the last photo(3rd shot) Warren
Dave I can’t wait see what the bloom looks like, but what is more important is the plant its self. These are the China /Tea Hybrids I am trying to develop so they can go into cultivation right up into Qld.
Warren, it may be good to explain to our members in the rest of the world what the conditions you are talking about
Gees David, Sydney is zone 10, Brisbane is further north and warmer probably zone 11 and up to Rockhampton the same as Brisbane Zone 11. They have a huge problem with BS in this 900 mile stretch
Last year my Mutabilis X Belle Story flowered as a S/D
[attachment 1089 001.jpg]
This year it added some petals and now looks like this.
[attachment 1090 MutXBelle1.jpg] I think as it becomes older and the canes become thicker and the weather gets warmer, bloom quality may ,become better.
Here is a pic of its foliage

That’s really interesting Warren! Do you perceive any of Mutabilis’ peppery scent from the plant parts?
Kim it sort of lives up to the name of the seed parent Mutabilis, have seen seedlings gain extra petals before but never change form like this. It was a cold rainy day yesterday so I did nt really get the chance of a sniff.
Now the little Mutabilis Hybrid is fully open and thankfully loads of anthers. Kim it has a spicy scent

Warren, that is beautiful!
I really hope the pollen is fertile as I think it is seed sterile. At the moment I am trying to decide what to cross it with to achieve a Noisette type of bloom.
