The cuttings came from the Fineschi garden, and were propagated by a small nursery in France and sent to us. I’m very certain they are the true variety, as Prof. Fineschi has the records documenting that he received them directly from Kordes.

I had try to mail The Poulsen firm again this morning, but the answer was negative, as they don’t even have the rose anymore.
Actually I visit Sangerhausen last week, but didn’t see it there too. But what a fascinating Rosarium it was!

On HMF there are several great “new” pictures of CG from Himmelstalund Rosarium in Sweden, taken in October 2005.
It really looks nice, bushy with lots of buds/hips.
I have now tried to mail the one who had taken them, to hear if any is available to buy.

Yesterday I got a reply from the Kordes company. They don’t have the rose anymore, sadly, but hopefully I will hear something from Sweden soon.

One can always use an online translator. Theyre free and easy to use.

Official language is Estonian that is pretty close to Finnish but very different from Swedish.
Substantial part of population are ethnic Russians. Almost everyone either speaks or understand Russian, although it is rather sensitive historic and political issue.

I wouldn’t every consider to use an on-line translator. They’re usually more work to fix the various problems both in the grammar and lexicon. And so many phrases just doesn’t translate well because of culture clashes.
Take for example the mistake I made as a kid.
I’m fluent in Spanish, but I “think” in English. So when I say something like, “I love your shoes.” People will understand that I like a certain person’s shoes. A statement like that taken literally in Spanish that I am emotionally in love with shoes.
Thank you Illya for that piece of information although I have a feeling that Clare may just as well stay over there until we can find a person who can write a letter (not an email) to that garden.
Although I’m sensing that doing something like this would involve a lot of money. However, I’m sure that if we pooled our money and asked a nursery to import the rose (such as perhaps Ashdown Roses) we can accomplish this.
I for one would put in my money to bring Clare Grammerstorf back into the United States.
I understand that but if you just state that youre an American then I think they would understand. There are several forums that I read where Italians, Russians, Swedes, Fins and Danes write in American English. It’s horribly clumsy but I read it regardless because I understand that they want to communicate.

To sum up the influence of CG in hybridizing, I had looked up the descendants of CG on HMF.
It gave 10 roses and out of them came a lot more:
Banbridge: not used further.
Bobravka: not used further.
Arthur Bell: 54 new roses had Bell as parent! (Burma star and many more.)
Chinatown: 5 new. (Atholl Grant, Centrex Gold,Mary Webb,Rawchinme,Yellow Buttom)

One of my favorite seed parents, Solitaire, is fromt hat line. The line offers vigor and health into HT’s when most yellows have failed at.
This is my point Bo. We have some many direct descendants, going back to Clare Grammerstorf itself isn’t really imperative and might not gain anything.
I’d love to try Solitaire Jadae. I have to wonder if it would work as seed parent in my climate. You say Belle Epoque works well for you and I’ve never seen a hip here.
