spring 2012 imports and Austrian Yellow

Thanks Leonard.

I can see they have some very interesting roses and more than 1000 species to choose from.

Bo

Great that Rosenposten propagates these rare scots rose clones and hybrids. Many of them are from Finland so here’s some additional information:

Flora Plena - Rosa pimpinellifolia plena, “juhannusruusu” (=Midsummer’s rose in Finnish, probably the most common countryside rose in Finland, the one your grandma had in her cottage garden)
Huldra - Poppius × Rosa rubiginosa L. (from Sweden, I think)
Litikkarusu, should be ‘Lutikkaruusu’ - Finnish found rose (Suomen Ruususeura – Finska Rosensällskapet)
Poppius - Rosa pendulina L. × seedling of Rosa spinosissima L. (Sweden 1838)
Tove Jansson - Red Nelly × Poppius, from the University of Helsinki rose breeding program
Poslini Kaunatar, should be ‘Posliinikaunotar’ (=Porcelain beauty) - bred by Pirjo Rautio, Finland (Suomen Ruususeura – Finska Rosensällskapet)
Ruuhi Jarvi, should be ‘Ruuhijarvi’ - Finnish found rose (http://koti.kapsi.fi/~titenno/puutarha/tietokannankuvat/852.jpg)
Ruskela - Finnish found rose
Kerisula, should be ‘Kerisalo’ - Finnish found rose (Suomen Ruususeura – Finska Rosensällskapet)

Is anyone interested in eventually having OP seedlings of R.hemispherica? I have been gifted with some seeds of unknown viability. They are small seeds and small, fragile embryos that are a pia to extract. I’m limiting myself to extracting and germinating only enough to get a plant for myself but - no guarantees - if someone else is interested I’ll do more.

I’d be interested, Don.

Your Finnish references (and correct/alternate names) and mozilla’s translator have been very useful today for filling in the blanks for number of received Finnish roses for my datasheet
