Will be flying to Europe this weekend to organize the release of 57 of my cultivars into the European Market. This is something which I have yearned to do for a few years and everything now has fallen into place. I said to a friend of mine that we Ozzies have been importing roses and now its time to send some back the other way. The 57 which have been selected by their breeding, hopefully will tolerate zone 5 / 6 temps. Future breeding now will be looked at in a different way for hardiness.
Congratulations, Warren!
Wow ! One or two is great but to have 57. How do you remember them apart ? Are they HTs? good luck and I hope you make a million. Johannes
That’s awesome, Warren! Quite the accomplishment. Who will be your representatives?
Have they already been trialed in Europe/European climates?
I know you are a prolific breeder, but 57 truly market-worthy plants is phenomenal.
57 varieties… You’re like the Heinz of the rose world!
(Um… That’s supposed to be ketchup-humor… But I don’t think I would get any Vegemite-humor if you were throw that my way so never mind…)
Great, you built your momentum, then made your move. I hope the timing is right and congrats.
Neil
Great to hear Warren. 57 is a lot.
Congratulations Warren.
Having that number of plants set for release is quite remarkable. How many years work do those 57 plants represent?
Warren,
Congratulations on getting 57 to be released. Quite an accomplishment. Most of us are lucky if we can get a few!
Congratulations Warren, what an accomplishment! That’s more releases than quite a few of the major breaders. But it doesn’t surprize me just by all the great roses you’ve posted on the forum. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations, Warren! Have a great trip and much success!
Warren, are they for release or trial and who has taken them up if you are allowed to tell us.
Congratulations. Some of your roses are truly amazing. Maybe someday you will release a few in the U.S. I would love to snatch up a few of them.
Incredibly impressive! I hope they take Europe by storm!
Thanks all for the comments. I cant say who it is yet, untill all factors are tied up, Dave they will be for release, when the weather warms up I will be sending over 3000 + buds for stock plants and those for promotional purposes. Within in a few years they should be available.
Johannes there is a mixture of types I breed, HT , Floribundas and shrub, most going to Europe will be shrub types. About making a million, I hope to make something to cover the cost and hard work I put in, but it is a great passion and I will be glad to get them out there.
Thanks Seil , not looking forward to the Temps, we are still getting 30 / 16C here , over there its -5 / 4C.
So you have already had some over there for trial purposes then Warren ?
Warren,
This sounds wonderful! Yes this is a passion, and there is nothing like seeing a little passionfruit.
Congratulations Warren.
When you’re in Europe? In what country? For me, this might be the only opportuniti to meet you. Of course, if you find a little time.
Brilliant Warren! Sounds like you are being a pioneer for rose breeding down under. I look forward to hearing how they are going in the market over there. I think we will all be curious about how you overcame the quarantine issues with EU from Australia. I would be happy just to have 1 of mine properly on the market
Congratulations Warren! That is amazing to have so many of your beautiful roses distributed so that others can enjoy them. Very exciting stuff. I hope that you have a great trip!
Lukasz i came back to Australia last night and have just realized your posting. It would have been good to catch up, I was in Belgium for only one week to sort out a few things but would have had the time to catch up.
Thanks Paul, the quarantine was no big deal if all the proper procedures are carried out correctly.
Thanks Jim, Thats what its all about Jim, I have a great passion for this and nothing gives me more pleasure than people enjoying them.
