Some Good News

When in Belgium I was introduced to Belgium rose breeder Emile Foucart, this is a pic taken at his home in western Belgium

Warren,

Emile Foucart is not on HMF–are his roses not known or available here in the US; how about down under?

Jackie he is listed as Foucart Emile

Now for some really good news, my budwood is now in Belgium. I can now feel some achievement of all the hard work over the years. 53 cultivars will be ready for budding. 4 of the original number were culled out due to the possibility of them having trouble opening their blooms in a cooler climate.

Congratulations Warren!

Congradulations

Congrats Warren on a great achievement!

Paul

The bud wood was sent on the 27th May, arrived in Belgium on the 30th May and was grafted in Holland the next day. Everything happened so quickly.

Wow, 3000± in one day. Here’s wishing you every success in your project.

The budwood which I sent over to Europe, here it is 2mths later. The growth rates look pretty good and the health is doing well in a different country and continent climate.

How exciting, Warren! Congratulations!

What a fabulous picture! They are looking great in two months.

Fantastic success story! Congrats!

Thank you all for your comments

57 roses is truly an amazing number. I wish you the very best of success with the European launch.

Cathy

Thanks Cathy, its quite a venture. The health is holding out how I expected and most havea pretty strong perfume which seems to be quite dominant in a cooler European climate.

Congrats Warren, hope to see your babies somedays there.

Cheers

Merci Matthias, I have a few being entered into the Concours International de Roses Nouvelles du Roeulx this September. I was going to return to Belgium next June 2014 but I have been told to hold off untill Sept 2014, apparently we are going to have some fun.

This year should be the 50th anniversary of the Rose trial of Le Roeulx…

It is a really nice rose trial, and the team there is pretty friendly.

I’ll try to be there during Sept 2014.

Warren, would you consider writing an article for the Newsletter about some of your experiences releasing new roses into commerce, your recent travels, and/or an aspect of your hybridizing? We would love to read it!

The same goes for everyone who reads this thread–your Newsletter needs you!

Thanks,
Betsy
