Rugosa×Hulthemia hybrids?

the low rugose in the foliage is possibly from triploidy, so 2/3 the modern influence rather than 50/50 kind of thing.

It’ll be interesting to see if it has fertility either way. may be worth trying to backcross to Rdl’H

What a wonderfull result. Congratulations!

I’m wondering if RdlH would have a (china) repeat-flowering pollen parent, because your seedling flowers in it’s first year. That would give you 1/4 juvenile bloomers, if “traditional” genetics apply.

Thanks @KarelBvn !

I don’t know, but so far after two years of growing seedlings of RdlH× blotched moderns, this has been the only one to show juvenile bloom. So either I’ve been incredibly unlucky, or the odds are much lower than 1/4.

@Plazbo Triploidy definitely does make sense here! So far, pollen from this seedling is very very scarce, and I’m still waiting to see if it will form some hips from a few attempted pollinations. Fingers crossed that in spite of triploidy it has at least some fertility!
