Today, while taking a walk through a nearby rose garden, I was delighted to spot these ripe, red rose hips on Rosa omeiensis ‘Pteracantha’. It’s a completely unusual sight at this time of year. Until today, I hadn’t been able to detect hips on this particular rose. The fruits ripen very quickly and fall off after just a short time. In any way, today was the perfect moment.
