Portland roses as mothers

I decided to pick it to store it’s pollen to use next year as it’s too late to see if it will set hip!

I know Paul has played with Marbree. I am wondering if I have any chance of spotting if I cross this rose with Indigo… Want the repeat bloom, spots and purple flower…

Probably at least some of the time given the seedling above got spotting.

Another option potentially is from Ebb Tide…unsure why, but get seedlings from it’s line with random white flicks sometimes, other times a type of mottling. Phone doesn’t really capture it well (over saturates reds and purples or something)

but this is Berry Delightful x (Ebb Tide x r. pendulina)

didn’t pick up the blotch :frowning: but can kind of see the mottling

vs an old picture of a Ebb Tide op I had with the white flecks, the seedlings that did this would consistently do it.

Wow that’s stunning, healthy plant?

The bottom one with white flecks was about the same as Ebb Tide, looks good for awhile then doesn’t as one spot disease or another takes over. A few like it come up whenever I sow Ebb Tide OP but they always have the same issues of ET, would assume selfs so may be a recessive trait in there to be mined out.

the pendulina hybrids are pretty much always healthy for me, though always lean heavily pendulina in plant traits and structure, never an equal balance or show much (any) modern influence (even though the modern parent is the seed parent)…flowers though easily picks up modern aspects (eg every first gen pendulina hybrid I have has semi double to double blooms much bigger than the species and not just in pinks). The 2nd gen above is still very much pendulina in plant traits.

I think I would give that plant a lot of wiggle room health wise if it could pass on that effect! It’s stunning!
