Jon's Rather Rambling Rose Rant...

Though they were introduced a decade apart, it wouldn’t surprise me if ‘Penny Lane’ were Sister seedling to ‘Armada’.

‘Armada’ was very easy to work with as seed parent and accepted almost any pollen but seedlings were nearly always pastel shades, pink and white.

This is the brightest seedling I ever got out of it and it was susceptible to Powdery Mildew.

One I’m ordering new for this year is ‘Rosemary Harkness’.

Couldn’t resist this link…LOTS of great rose pics.

Debated about showing such a small nothing but it is a first bloom- very typical hybrid musk looking. Light pink & green prosperity seedling. The tiny buds are dark leaf green before opening.

Mom(Prosperity)

Cute, I always wondered why no one ever used Prosperity to make a white floribunda line by crossing it to a HT.

For example, Prosperity x Royal Philharmonic sounds nice. Which reminds me, I should try Royal Philharmonic x Escapade out. The latter has about the same amount of polyantha as the previous idea, but I dont own Prosperity lol.

It makes me want to buy aglaia to cross with it to see if I could get some yellow in it…

That link two posts above also has some really good aglaia & trier pics…

I have buds on two KO seedlings, about three weeks away…so till then.

I just can’t resist a comment.

That’s kinda what I was looking for. Peace x Prosperity or reciprocal. My reasoning was that if dad was Perle des Jardins then it should be compatible with peace. Plus like Robin Hood & Virgo made Iceberg. But anyway I don’t think Prosperity x Peace or otherwise is compatible as I experienced aborted hips. This seedling would have to have been sired by a small flowered single green almost species like (hybrid musk looking) mystery rose bought for $1.50 at big lots or freds. It was a single autumn fertilization of opportunity(whim)and it made & held hip until like feb.

The green prosp. seedling came out with a few more petals.

Here’s pics of a new seedling. Has to from Hot Cocoa.
