Also…I emailed Harckness last week about getting some of the “latest generation” persica hybrids here… they replied it is practically an impossibility for them to export to Australia at the moment.
No… ‘Euphrates’ has not arrived yet… I need to get home and call them to find out where they are at with their orders. Waiting on so many roses now…
George… there is always more than one way to skin a cat.
Hi,
I got a mail from Robert Harkness.
He is in contact with Mr. Janssen (Vierlaender) and I see they are working on this.
There may come up some good news.
I hope I can buy licensed Harkness roses in Germany later.
Please do no longer hijack this thread on other hulthemia questions.
@Simon:
This is a chance to build another way to skin a cat.
Hi Ren
Enrique,
Sorry to hear about those hips aborting. To answer your questions: the newer generation Hulthemias are very different from the first and second generation types. I am now throwing out all the ones that get powdery mildew. The foliage on many is very nice and there are some that are nearly thornless. Most are keeping a fair amount of fragrance. I don’t have any truly climber varieties yet, but I have a seed parent in mind that might do the trick. They have come a long way from ‘Tigris’ and many have nice tidy plants. There are still so many directions to go. There should be a few repeat bloomers available in the U.S. in the next couple of years - or sooner…
