That I didn’t know, but very interesting Jadae.
I hope then that Westerland’s good resistance will be a dominant feature in such a cross as Abe seems to suffer from disease attacks more often.

Germinations have slowed way down for me. I’m hoping it’s the calm before the storm because more than half of the crosses I did last year have produced no germinations.
Mostly the stuff in which I have less interest in cooperates.
It’s amazing how many germinations one gets when a certain cross clicks even out of relatively few seeds.
Perhaps your spam filters is doing over time Robert… check again, I’ve sent two emails.
To which address Enrique? I’ve received neither one. Sorry. Thanks
Solitaire x Shocking Blue, Lagerfeld x Sheer Elegance & Whisper x Sheer Elegance started popping up today. All three should be interesting because they all tend to throw unexpected color ranges.
Sheer Elegance seems to have rather potent pollen.
Good going Jadae!
Our cold weather caused quite a delay in germinations. I was worried that something bad had happened (like dead frozen seeds!), but new germinations are now sprouting fast.
Robert it is amazing how some particular crosses really do seem to click.
Jim Sproul
Same here, Jim. As soon as it started raining after the huge freeze, things started going nuts.
Thanks Robert. Im hoping some of the corresponding hopefuls germinate en masse, too. ie. Lagerfeld x Sheer Elegance will hopefully be crossed with Royal Amethyst x Pretty Lady, and so on…
But you never know… so many duds to weed through.
Royal Amethyst won’t drop it’s petals here. Have you had luck with Lagerfeld in the past?
Yeah, I had a pretty one of High Hopes x Lagerfeld, but like all High Hopes seedlings, it mildewed and was tossed. It was a pretty orchid blend of good vigor.
RA is beautiful here.
Yeah, I have my first 3 germinations today! It’s Aprikola x Golden Celebration.
Aprikola is a compact Kordes floribunda with apricot flowers and a very high disease resistance (for me, not for Pierre). I noticed that Aprikola sets seed readily and all the crosses I made on it were successful (or selfs of course). The hips are not large, but I hope the germination rate will be good, then she will be a quite efficient parent.

(Cool, there is a spelling checker in the forum form. Must be a new addition to Firefox?)
Rob, that is great news about Aprikola setting seeds readily. I have it on order this year and am hoping to use it as a female.
