I am very happy to hear this, two of my favourites!
I was tossing my seedlings around in my greenhouse today. The crossings I think are least likely to germinate I put in the back. I got 8 seeds from 3 OP hips on Comte de Chambord, those - amongst others - were in the back of my greenhouse . One is germinating! So CdC is able to set viable seeds if it manages to ripen her hips.
KarelBvn, thank you very much for that message. Thatâs great news, my congratulations! Iâm keeping my fingers crossed that further development goes well and that a second or even third germination occurs. In my experience, if it worked once, the chances of a repeating are good. My first germination cycle appears to be complete. According to my current assessment, there are a few interesting seedlings that I would like to show sometime or other. But as usual, however, no seedling from Comte de Chambord has emerged so far, and there has not been a single sprout from Ispahan this year either. Much luck! Pls keep us updated.
None of mine have germinated so far, congratulations! I look forward to seeing what you get
CdC x âSweet Chariotâ, August 2, 2024.
The only hip left after pollenating about a dozen flowers in late May, the second flush.
I would never try that again. Totally waste of time (and pollen).
What if that hip holds the winning rose ticket?
An update. From 8 seeds I got 2 seedlings. One at first vigorous and one that remained small. Iâve planted them both outside with my other seedlings. The vigorous one became pale green and didnât grow that much anymore. The small one kept making some leaves but stayed small. Compared to my other seedlings theyâre not good at all. If I wasnât curious Iâd have culled them already.
That smaller one looks healthy so far⌠Watching with interest!
I congratulate you and thank you for sharing this nice news. Two seedlings have emerged at all. Despite your mentioned imperfections so far, this result can be considered as first achievement and encourages for further trials.
Your patience and curiosity will certainly be rewarded with great success sooner or later. I am keeping my fingers crossed and also looking forward to further developments.
