Curious as to your thoughts on fertility, ploidy (is it a mule? There are no descendants listed, nor info on ploidy) or if anyone has obtained any progeny, the merits or deficits of which they could address?
She is a pretty thing in photos, and appears to perform well.

I generated a few seeds but haven’t planted them.

Thanks, Kim. I acquired a plant from Burling that has settled in pretty well, so I am hoping for a decent flush this year. Did it work both directions (mommy and daddy) for you?

I only used it for seed, Philip. It was one of those, “let’s see if this works” kind of cross.

If it works as a momma, that would be wonderful (though a good number of “seed fertile” cultivars aren’t so much in my climate.) I hate digging for pollen in some of those fully double polyantha types as so many of the limited anthers are more petalloid than pollen producing.
Years ago you pointed out to me that Iceberg was half hybrid “musk" so I would love to see if I could work toward larger blooms with P.S..
(On that subject, does anybody stateside have Summer Wine – one of the prospective parents I would like to play with – material they would be willing to share?)
Thanks, Kim. Not familiar with them. (Etsy seller? Hmm… That’s where I shop for seeds of rainbow colored and deep blue roses!
)
I gather you are familiar with them? (Phytocertification is required in TX for CA plants, typically doubling the price or more.)
Never heard of “The Pride" rose. Wonder why not; I could see that being popular here.
I know of them as I look at nurseries all over on line and they’re listed on HMF. I’ve not obtained anything from them. I asked a friend out in the desert whether he still had Summer Wine. His response was “animated” about how much he HATED the rose and its addiction to mildew in his desert climate, stating he’d much prefer to work with its descendants where many of its “issues” had already been worked out. I’ve considered it several times but there has always been SOMETHING about it preventing me from pulling the trigger.
Thank you. I needed to be un-enabled.
