Just wondering if any True White Gallica roses have ever been developed. Even a very pale blushed white?
Using the Advanced Search on Help Me Find-Roses for âGallicaâ, âWhiteâ , 6 pages of results are shown. Many are described as âwhite, light pink shadingâ and âwhiteâ with other stripes, mottling, edging or âunder tonesâ. These are the ones out of the six pages listed as white or cream without other colors (other than green). So, yes, there have been âwhiteâ Gallicas.
Thank you so much, it looks like I need to purchase a subscription. What started my train of thought is whether there was a white analog of Tuscany supreme. I have some reading to do. Many thanks again!

I have no true white Gallicas. The closest I come to white is âDuchesse de Montebelloâ, which is a light pink that fades to near white.
White just isnât in the R. gallica color palette - the absence of pigment has to come from other species. I suspect itâs difficult to breed color out of that family of roses.
Are white gallicas possible? Two years ago I got this gallica hybrid.

Are the stripes in mundi a true white? Would they be a potential source of more white?
Mundiâs stripes are not white.
For more white I would look at a cross with Albas or Canina
Some of the white centifolias come fairly close to the mark. Some years ago I had one called âLâIngenueâ, which descends from a line of white-flowered centifolia roses. If you could find any of those (far easier in Europe than North America), they might be useful.
