Variegated Leaves

Oh, yes, I forgot about this thing. Curiosity 'Rosa wichurana foliis variegata' Rose . It grew in the Study Plot at The Huntington and carried a name something like “Okashima” or “Yakusima baru”. It’s been twenty years since I last saw it. It is SO invasive, I used to tease people who would buy it at the plant sales that they should grow it in hanging baskets over lava to prevent it from escaping. Intensely prickly and a real oddity. But, seriously, don’t let it touch the ground or you will need gallons of “Vitamin R” to get rid of it.
