Translucent achenes

This is a Rhapsody in Blue x Breezy seed from an aborted hip that is about 50 days old. Its outer layer and testa was still soft to the point that I could tear it off with my short nails, and it still looks translucent like water. Has anyone had success with germinating such early developed achenes?

This guy came from an embryo extraction at 48 days, but it’s a cross of two very precocious species.

Most of my early extraction experiments died when the temps hit 109 and I lost climate control. Even before that it seemed like most of the embryos were struggling to germinate or survive. My takeaway was that the only reason to do it so early is for emergency rescue or if you have such an abundance that the poor success rate is immaterial.

The species hybrids had a lot more viable embryos than moderns. I believe that the translucent embryos are DOA. At this point I don’t bother with embryos that aren’t the ideal pearly white because they just wind up contaminating the medium.
