Thoughts on Photos

I understand this is not a place for such a question, BUT, I would like some imput to which form of photo ‘place’ to use. I am new at a lot of things and this is one of them(laugh at will), The 3 choices are as follows or are there more, We/I need it SIMPLE,

  1. Photobucket

  2. Picasa

  3. Flickr

Some criteria here, being able to add names of roses, albums, slide show, alphabetical if possible.

Please help if you can on this subject, Regards David.

Hi David, I’ve used Photobucket and found it “OK”. I’ve not used Flickr. I had and uninstalled Picasa because it insisted upon grabbing EVERY image on my hard drive, whether I wanted it to or not and interfered with my Infranview, which I love for massaging images. My personal opinion is no to Picasa. Kim

I use photobucket only.

Photobucket is the easiest for me. I did notice, however, that my pics were losing some sort of color saturation when I uploaded them to photobucket. It was very noticeable. So when I really wanted to show the color of a rose for people on this forum I had to switch to Flickr. Hopefully not everyone will experience the same issue.

Flickr

Picasa.

Kim, it does grab every image, but it also leaves them where you originally had them – it moves nothing, just copies it. And I also use Irfanview. Doesn’t seem to bother it or to interfere.

Another one that I discovered yesterday is Fastone, which does some things that Picasa and the other freeware will not do, like upsize small images and make the necessary correction to clarity through some type of fill-in software.

Hi David,

Not really an inappropriate subject, since many photo shares are made. What better way to illustrate a point, proudly show off your offspring, and get agreement (or not) on a sometimes unclear explanation? I use photobucket, just because it is quite easy to use, but there are more than a few alternatives. Now that you (and I) know some more of the alternatives, try them out and see what suits your understanding best. Some of the e-mail hosting services and the social networking sites have photo sharing and storage-I don’t think that any of those are mentioned above. And of course you can look at on line reviews (see link) and open up basic (usually free) accounts or at least the free trial accounts at almost all of these sites.

Thanks to all that replied, I could leave it at that, but I do not like it that way so thanks to, Kim, Jadae, Joe, Paul, Kathy(twice, she will understand((other forum), and Jackie, that link is/was interesting. At present still looking through all the tutorials. Jackie thanks go to you for your reply, love the simplicity of your explanation, Regards David.

I have both Photobucket and Picture Trail. I like them both but I think Picture Trail is easier to name things in and edit and move things around.

I tried Picasa and did not care for it. I had a terrible time trying to figure out how to navigate around in it to do the things I wanted to do with my pictures.
