Here in Vancouver, the public rose garden in Stanley Park seems to experiment a lot with the newer no-spray varieties. I suspect they consult with Brad Jalbert as their choices tend to align with his recommendations. At any rate, we have serious blackspot issues here, and it’s interesting to see which of the newer varieties do well. Beverly, with its exceptionally powerful fragrance, does quite well here but the best of the newer Kordes seems to be Eliza. Most of the Fairy Tales do well, and Grande Amore is impressive for a red HT. Francis Meilland is a winner, too. All of these do much, much better than any of the Austins here. Mind you, nothing beats Konigen von Danemark for disease resistance in that garden (and her fragrance is, of course, well-known.)
