Wow, the new setup is fantastic. I just want to add my thanks to Jim 's… I can’t wait to try posting photos… Liz
I like this new setting a lot! Change is good…
I LOVE how it highlights the new posts and permits you to click on the notice and be taken directly to the new ones. Marvelous! You guys have done a great job. Thank you!
Testing 123, This is the best of the best. As Jim Sproul has said 2 thumbs up, if I had more I would add them, does 2 big toes count as thumbs, if they do I submit them as well.
To the team that set this up this way, Thanks. Must have taken some effort, Regards David.
Neil, that looks like Queen Elizabeth.
Kim, it’s a two year old seedling from Crimson Glory op that grew to four foot this year. Earlier it was pruned and the pieces put in a bucket of water till they could dealt with. Yesterday the cuttings where put in two inch pots of different media and under domes. Now there 89 cuttings setting in the kitchen. Grrr! I live a little above the 45th parallel which cuts through norther Oregon, Ottawa-Canada, Maine and Mongolia so what are can you do. Neil
I’m shivering reading where you live, Neil. We’ve only been down to the low thirties, but mostly the low forties and I am READY for triple digits!
Not sure whether this question belongs here or not, if not where do we place questions,
-
Is it possible to “stay” logged in or is there a lapse time, which means you have to login each time.
-
I do not want to step on the toes of the team that put this together, but, as some of the threads can get loooong, is it possible to have top and bottom arrows, so as to take you to the start or the last post or just that page.
Regards David.
David, I run this, GW and HMF on Firefox while keeping my AOL open for email. I browse on Firefox. This forum remains open for me. When I return to Firefox, I refresh the page and it signifies in red which threads have new posts and how many. I can click on those red notices and it takes me directly to the new posts. I don’t know if this would be different on other browsers or not, but that’s how I’m finding it works on Firefox. I switched to using it because NOTHING opens on AOL with their bazillians of layers of programming. Explorer, no matter which version I’ve run, nor on which computer, fouls up, stops running and has to restart. So far, none of that irritation and lack of service from plain old Firefox. Kim
David, There are a number of layers of built-in security here and one of them requires users to periodically (every 60min) to re-enter your login details if it’s been left inactive for a while or when you access your private messages for example. I’m not sure we need so many layers of security on here and have turned it off for the moment so you should not have to relog in now (well… at least for 30 days )… what do you think Admin?
Simon, I think you should set it back where it was, then put your hands on the desk and take a rap with a ruler.
I also think we need to start training the moderator team so we can turn things over to you all before my contract runs out. PM me about this so we can get that ball rolling.
Test posting from my iPad.
It only took me a day to work out the new posts have “new” and also nice red writting to take me to the unread posts
See? You’re ALREADY getting better!
Thanks Kim, I have just placed my location in my profile, I think you can open it and see where I am ?
Hi David,
What grows in that field where you live?
David,
You can quickly go to the beginning and end of any thread on any forum. I know what you mean about on a long thread to check out the later posts. Look on your KEYBOARD. Directly to the right of your BACKSPACE key ( at least on the USA keyboards) is a key which says HOME and to the right of that a key that says END. When I click on a thread, and want to see the latest postings, I then click on END and that takes me automatically to the last post in the thread. Then I click on ARROW UP if I want to go up a few posts.
Conversely, if I am in a long thread and want to go back to the begininning to review the original post, I just press the HOME button and it takes me directly back to the original post of the thread. I did this all the time on the GardenWeb forum threads as well as on the RHA forum threads in the previous format. Doing it here now also.
The nice thing here is it will post by each thread if there are new responses so one need only open up those threads. You may, once opened, click on NEW and it will take you to the new threads I think. Will have to try it.
I like to “review” a thread so will tend to start at the beginning and quickly scan the previous threads until I get to the new postings. Finds it reviews the particular topic for me and I am better able to appreciate, evaluate, etc., the later postings and the discussion.

Jim S, I live on about 14 acres, mixed things, such as, a small orchid, 2 1/2 acres of lucerne(alfafa), 20 sheep and “WEEDS”.
Around me is mostly lucerne farms as we are on river flats with black loam(used to be a very large vegetable growing area prior to the lucerne).
Cattle and sheep farming take up the district with smaller enterprises coming along like cherries and pomegranetes.
The house I live in is owned by my employer as he draws water from the river behind to water the vineyard which I manage(160 acres), the rest of their property is about 1400 acres on the edge of town. They were one of the 2 original settlers in Mudgee
Thanks Jim P for the help with my small problem. My keyboard has those functions. I had no idea what they did till now, will have to look at other keys as well.
