Summer Newsletter Articles and Cover Sponsor Needed

Hi everyone,

The summer newsletter deadline is less than two weeks away (July 15) and we have received only one article so far! Please send your article soon. It can be short or long, technical or practical, whatever you want to share with your fellow members. Have you visited a public rose garden this summer? Have you read a good rose book/article or attended an event? We also have new members coming in every quarter and we’d love to get to know you through a “Who We Are” article about yourself and how you got interested in hybridizing roses.

How about those of you with a gorgeous new seedling? Send us a picture and a brief description.

If you also choose to sponsor the cover ($100) you can have your rose in full color on the front cover!

Remember our symposium topic: Propagation. How do you propagate your roses to share with friends and for new rose trials? If you have bred roses that grow readily from cuttings, give us some tips on what parents are good (or bad) to use for that.

Thanks,

Betsy van der Hoek

Hi All,

We still have a need for several more articles - long or short! Please send something in to Betsy this coming week.

What are you working on? Do you have any seedlings that surprised you this year? Have you found a good parent? Do you propagate your roses? How? Do you make cuttings? Do you graft? Why do you propagate? What are some of the challenges that you have faced propagating your seedlings? Do you use a special rooting agent for getting cuttings to root? What is your method for handling cuttings?

Consider taking one of the above questions, or answer a different question that you would prefer. While it is true that there are many ways to “skin a cat”, the way that you do things may be something that will help someone else to have more success.

Please pitch in and support OUR newsletter.

Thanks so much!
