Abstract: “The article features some of the Canadian Prairie-bred rose cultivar names bred by Frank L. Skinner. The Rosa spinosissima altaica x R. spinosissima or Burnett Rose was named for the town closest to Skinner’s nursery. The Rosa rugosa x R. acicularis was named after Will Alderman, head of the Department of Horticulture at the University of Minnesota.”
