Sources of R. maximowicziana

Hi all,

I’m looking for a source of R. maximowicziana (plant material or seed). It was available from Dr Berkutenko’s seed list but I have been unable to contact Dr Berkutenko and have found no other source for this species.

Would anyone hear know where it is available?

Thanks,

Jinks.

Jinks,

You can try to contact Agbina company from Moscow region.

http://www.eng.agbina.com/

R.maximowicziana is in their catalog

http://www.agbina.com/site.xp/053051054124057052048.html

but currently is absent from stock list. Still, may be they can help you.

I know another company in Moscow that is selling 2l plants:

but sure you will have a lot of difficulties of getting them into US.

Best regards,

Ilya

I don’t want to stray from your request, but if you can’t find a source of R. maximowicziana you might want to look at “White Mountains”. It appears that WMs is a seedling selection of R. maximowicziana via Skinner’s Rambler.

White Mountains also sets op hips quite readily.

Jinks, I have this species but it’s a hassle to ship plants to foreign countries. Email me directly and maybe we can set something up.

ForestFarm lists it in both tube and gallon sizes. (If you’re in the USA)

Rosa maximowicziana is at Kew. It’s in bed 185-09. Go strait into the field in front, directly opposite the entrance. There you will find a whole series of island beds filled with species roses. It isn’t on the map. The map only shows the rose beds surrounding the palm house. Next time your in London I’m sure you would enjoy seeing all the species roses they have.

Curtis’s Botanical Magazine v. 121 t. 7421 (1895) lists R. maximovicziana Regel as a synonym for R. wichuraiana/luciae.
