This shows the fuzz to a degree.
Yup, both my OP R. clinophyllaX bracteata and my OP R. clinophylla have this cute fuzz!
When you get Papoose, a cross I kept trying and which I’d love to see succeed is mixing it with Lilac Charm. Kim
Interesting about the “peach fuzz” effect. ‘Ruglauca’ has that trait. I described it as “new stems are pink colored with a downy look to them.” This picture in this link is the only one I have to date that shows the fuzz so I’ll have to take better pics next season. ‘Ruglauca’ is (Rugosa #3 x R. glauca) x unknown … most likely an OP seedling. I don’t remember seeing ‘fuzz’ on Rugosa #3, Jens Munk or R. glauca…I wonder where this is coming from on this one? Therese Bauer is a possible alternative parent to Rugosa #3 than Jens Munk. I’m not familiar with TB and that line to know if there is the ‘fuzzy’ trait there. Very interesting though…
I obtained Cinco de Mayo this past season based on positive comments by Jadae. I don’t love the color but hope that it produce some great colors in offspring.
Based on the advice here I won’t be picking up Tamora…and definitely won’t get Playboy. lol
Regardless of the color, Cinco de Mayo has a superior branching habit and plant habit compared to Playboy, with rust disease tolerance.
Jadae,
My comment was a positive one. I think CdM was a good purchase for breeding stock for me. Color aside, I took your positive comments about the possibility of passing on interesing colors and great plant architecture to heart and look forward to using her next season.
