One of my Blondy X Pure magic crosses seems to have aborted a bud or new growth. I’m not sure why this may have happened? It’s totally healthy and receives the same care as my other seedlings. The black formation is about a millimetre in size, it looked like a mite from far away. Can anyone shine some light on this?

Happened to me repeatedly, with every heat-wave this summer. Just crispy-fried. Frustrating as hell.

Yeah things that haven’t become literally a totem to mildew have had there shoots fried to some degree. It’s been a brutal season, late frosts and then back to back to back to back to back to back heatwaves with another predicted. It turns out climate change is real and we are all ready in serious trouble. We (the UK) have serious work to do on our water infrastructure or we are in trouble very soon

The other seedling I have did the same thing, even though the temps remained at 21C constantly and it received consistent watering. I suspect it’s some sort of branching gene perhaps or the roses haven’t reached the optimum size for flowering?
I’m currently experiencing the cold front/ late frost situation. From a nightly minimum for two weeks at 15C to 0C as the new minimum the next day it really throws a spanner in the works regarding my seedlings. About 23 out of my 27 roses are in their first flush of blooms by now, and my Stanwell is on its 21’st pollinated hip so I’ll have to get some frost nets or something to soften the blow.
