I am only familiar with Colonel Mustard as a suspect in CLUE…
I freaking LOVED that movie!!
Eye to Eye (Candy Eyes)
has decent germination (unlike most of warners hulthemia that pretty low germination)
I just wasn’t a fan of his long flexible canes and thorns (ie if it’s windy dont go near it)
Good to read about Eye to Eye. I have a lot hulthemia roses i use and test but a few stay healthy enough to ripen hips. Looking forward to use it.
Hi TimoNL, from my experience Hulthemias are indeed healthy and have less problems coping with extreme weather conditions. This also applies to the hybrids that carry Hulthemia blood, but do not have it as their mother. Due to their very poor germination rate, I was forced to use these hybrids only as pollen donors. Then there are no germination problems, regardless of the Hulthemia variety.
Since the chance has just arisen due to your recent reply and the fact that you have lots of Hulthemias in testing, I dare to ask you whether you stratify Hulthemia seeds or sow them directly. Maybe you only use them as pollen donors. If not, is there a special trick to getting them to germinate, that you would be willing to share? However, thank you very much for feedback.
