Rose Escimo (KORmifari)

Hi everybody,

Escimo, or Silver Gost is a small bush bred by Kordes. It has a really good disease resistance. For black spot, its foliage could compete here (east of France)with stainless steel.

I really like its flower and tried to get pollen from it, without any success. It does not set hips at all in my condition.

Have some of you already tried it as male parent ?

I would be happy some of you succeeded, just to try again.

Is it common that a variety is completely sterile

Hmm, I have it, but never used it in hybridizing. I can’t recall if it set hips. It does bloom a lot, but the annoying thing is that the single flowers close when the sun goes down. That means that most days I only see closed up flowers! It’s very pretty in the weekend though :wink:

You are right, the flowers close in the evevening, but could be that way protected against dew, and keep a fresh shape and color :slight_smile:
