Rosa arvensis breeding

Paul,
The climbing habit is cut low by the everblooming trait. Compare ‘Mlle Cecile Brunner’ and its once-blooming climbing sport.

Floribundas are repressed (so to speak) once-blooming climbers. So are the Teas and Chinas.

An exception to this “rule” is found in the descendants of Rosa moschata, mostly by way of the Noisettes. Even the bushy descendants can sport to vigorous reblooming climbers, such as ‘Cl. Devoniensis’ and ‘Cl. Souv. de la Malmaison’.
