Replanting Roses

This is an open question to all here on the subject of replanting roses in the same hole. Is there any ‘scientific’ proof/knowledge that roses leave disease/residue in the area that they once were planted. Could this be a folklore/mith. If it is true, how much soil would be needed to taken and replenished for replanting.

Have we any soil scientists here or microbrial scientists ?

Can’t offer the scientific stuff you seek, however I never worry about it since making identical enquiries not too long ago here, myself.

Because of space constraints I always reuse holes. I’ve been doing it for years and Mom did it for years before me. To the best of my recollection I’ve never had any problems with a new rose as a result.
