I’ve been a distant admirer of your father’s work for a long time. I’ve never been to Sequioa, nor ordered from them, though I always anticipated doing so when the day should arrive when I have the space and a little more time! It never occurred to me that the nursery would close. I would have expected a partner or someone who was close to Ralph and his work would have continued his work alongside him and after him.
I gather his collection is moving to Texas? You mention his land being sold. I hope he will genuinely be able to continue to be a part of the work he began and which means so much to him. I’m sorry it won’t be nearer to him physically, but I’m grateful that the collection will be well-cared for.
Since I first started my interest in hybridizing, I have heard the name of Ralph Moore used frequently. I’m very sorry for the closing of an iconic nursery.
