Ralph Moore's Candy Cane

Does anyone know where or how to acquire this rose?

I believe it may be extinct. There was a source here in BC/Canada, but when the stock was sold off it was no longer there, sadly.

Perhaps someone has it in The States?

Burling Leong shows it available on HMF, and her listings are usually up to date.

Thanks! For some reason I mistakenly thought this nursery closed in recent years.

One of my rose friends in Alberta bought much of the mini-rose inventory mentioned and is selling

under the name Heart Stone Roses. https://heartstoneroses.odoo.com/ ‘Candy Cane’ is offered.

Oh Happy Day!! Jason Croutch reached out to me when he was looking over their lists, to see if I had any recommendations that he shouldn’t miss getting. lol

I’m glad to see that so many of the classics remain in cultivation!! I’d like a ‘Pinstripe’ please.:+1:

And maybe a ‘Ko’s Yellow’.

‘Rise ‘n’ Shine’?

Email Burling for her latest rose lists (both mini and full size) as those are up to date.

Burling has many of the old Moore roses, including Candy Cane, Pinstripe, Stars ‘N’ Stripes and many more. I have Candy Cane here somewhere, in amongst the Blackberries. But if you want to use it for hybridizing, be aware that the striping is a sport, and the odds of that trait being inheritable are very low. If it’s stripes you’re after, Pinstripe is an excellent choice.

Ah, that’s a shame. I didn’t realize it was a sport, but that would explain why the striping is so unique. But at least I wound up getting in touch with Burling I’ve been looking over her rose list the past few days. She’s got a lot of great options.

I’ll probably wind up ordering a few interesting dark reds and russets, and some Ralph Moore roses.
