Quick Germination

Had a ziplock bag of HT Seedling x Carefree Copper seeds on top of fridge, thinking I’d let them stay at room temperature for a few days before putting them in the crisper, which is my normal practice. After a short amount of time, I noticed something green had poked itself through the paper towel the seeds were wrapped in. One of the seeds germinated almost as quickly as a radish seed. So now, I have a lone seedling to nurse along through the winter in my zone 5 home.

PS Thank you Larry Davis for the Carefree Copper pollen this spring.

I am trying to give my seeds a warm treatment before putting them in the cooler and ended up with seven or eight early germinations, too, from some seed trays kept on a rack above some lights. I think it is the warmth from my lights and your fridge that causes the germination, in combination with less-dormant seeds, perhaps collected before getting fully ripe. Have fun taking care of your seedling! A flourescent shop light in the basement would work well.
