Does anyone know anything about this one? It’s not in HMF under this name.
Rob,
I found a comment on forums2.gardenweb.web suggesting that ‘Purple Perfection’ is really ‘Fragrant Lavender Simplicity’.
I have also seen a ‘Purple Persuasion’ listed on some dubious sites.
Karl
Thank you Karl. The catalog that I saw this in must be darkening the color in the photo trying for a more purple-ish color. Fragrant Lavender Simplicity would make sense and not one that I’d want to obtain.
They also list Golden Honey Thornless Rose which shows a very pretty Austin type bloom with great yellow color and being ‘thornless’. I guess this is another rose being renamed but I’m not sure what one that would be. Better that I don’t order this one either. Thanks again.
Rob,
Yes, we must be careful. Many years ago (1971) Lakeland Nurseries distributed ‘Ray Bunge’ (climbing sport of ‘Paul Neyron’) as ‘Scarlet Showers’. Scarlet?
Karl
You point out a good one Karl. Looked up Ray Bunge and the color description is “Deep pink, lighter reverse”. Not sure how they got scarlet out of that.
I should be wary of ‘new’ roses that don’t even have a listing in HMF. That should be a clue to me that it could be a renamed rose.
Rob,
Back in the '70s, I received the Lakeland catalogs. An even worse example of misrepresentation was ‘Blue Girl’, which they described as “azure blue”.
Karl
That is a huge misrepresentation!
