Purple Hydridizing Project - Suggestions?

Hello
Ive been playing around in the rose garden for years and finally have enough time to really indulge in hybridizing and would love feedback on my purple project. My goal is dark purple (I love the color of Twilight Zone and Munstead Wood.) Fragrance is a must. Repeat bloomer. Healthy. I am drawn to hybrid teas more but interesting form/structure works too. Looking to create something unique!

I plan on focusing on crossing Twilight Zone and Munstead Wood with the following as both pollen and seed parent.
Barbra Steisand
Neptune
Mr Lincoln
Lasting Love
Rinaldo (Japanese Shrub)
Royal Palace (Japanese shrub)

I also have the following in the garden that I was considering adding to the mix.
Fragrant Plum
Celestial Night
Intrigue
Dark Lady
Ebb Tide (not thrilled with its performance but sets good hips and pollen on the few flowers it gets)
Falstaff
Dark Night
Feedback?

Im open to purchasing a few more plants for this projectā€¦ Suggestions that may be interesting?
Burgundy Iceberg?
Blue Girl?
Nuits de young?

Thanks for your help and wisdom!
Lora

Colour-mutations like ā€˜Burgundy Icebergā€™ are unlikely to have mutated in all three layers of cells, so they sadly donā€™t pass on their unique colour, but default back to the original plantā€™s gametes in hybridization.

Thanks for your feedback. Is there a database that has indepth genetic info? I looked at the help me find site. Not much there. I can guess that all of the roses Im playing with are tetraploid, a few are listed as such. Would love to find out more about mutations and recessive traits. Exploring rose genetics is new to me!

I systematically searched all my favoured roses HERE, to find out what has been made and observed in the offspring. MANY PAPERS have been linked here in the forum discussions, but sadly the database ā€œbulbsnrosesā€(? Something like that) where much of the literature down through The Roseā€™s History was all together in one place is now defunct. I wonder if another such page exists?

I donā€™t know what country you are in, but Blue For You is extremely healthy, has beautiful purple flowers with some scent (my sense of scent isnā€™t very good), and has a nice growth habit, form or structure, in that the branches donā€™t flop over and the stems are strong enough to support the flowers. It probably isnā€™t as dark purple as you are looking for, but it sets seed very easily and the seedlings have beautiful flowers. There might be something in its genotype that is worth using.

The photograph is of a Blue For You seedling.

can still be accessed via the web archive (for now anyway)

Oh thatā€™s fantastic! Iā€™ve read and reread almost all of them. SO MUCH information to learn and unlearn through the history of this beloved flower.
