Prairie Joy x Cherry Frost

This picture is of Joe Bergeson’s 1027 which is Prairie Joy x Cherry Frost. The last plant that continues to bloom after frost. Nice autumn color developing.

Good to see 1027 in someone else’s yard, Rob!

Mine hasn’t been as smothered with blooms in the past few years for some reason as it was before when I took cuttings. And somewhat hesitant to repeat. And difficult to breed with…not a good seed setter and as a pollen parent the results have been uninspiring. I won’t be pursuing this rose for release and you’re free to share it with anyone who wants to try it. It seems to stay healthy and regrow vigorously each season.

I’ve attached a pic of the mature plant.

I just had the thought that if you popped 1027 into Zone 5 or warmer it might be a stunning climber or very large arching bush.

I’m zone 7 so I’ll see what growth habit it will be. Disease resistant here. Thanks for posting a picture. It’s very attractive. I’ll try using it both directions as a parent next season to see what happens. If I remember correctly, the canes facing up are purple while the down side is green.
