Polyantha rose plant named ‘Zlepoltwo’

Abstract: “A new and distinct variety of polyantha rose plant, herein referred to as ‘Zlepoltwo’, is provided which forms abundantly on a substantially continuous basis attractive, double white colored blossoms. Attractive, semi-glossy, medium green foliage is formed, which contrasts beautifully with the blossoms. The vegetation is vigorous and the growth habit is very bushy and compact. The new variety is well suited for providing attractive ornamentation in the landscape.”

I imagine this is Pretty Polly White. I had a some for sale this past spring. There is also Pretty Polly Pink and Pretty Polly Lavender.

I was looking through the Star Roses wholesale catalog and saw these roses and had the thought “wow, I guess someone besides David Zlesak is breeding polyanthas, eh?” …then I looked at the wonky names and saw they all started with “Zle”…

Congrats to David for these releases. Pretty Polly Pink is gorgeous and a heavy bloomer.

I was psyched to get a number of hips to set with various pollens, and now have the seeds under stratification. David has mentioned that polyantha seeds germinate best at a steady 50 degrees F or so, so I have them in a cool windowsill. Hope they germinate! I haven’t had good luck with Darlow’s Enigma or some other poly seeds.

Thank you Henry for posting this. Yes, it is Pretty Polly White Joe :0). It was a seedling back about 20 years ago. I really like it because of the relatively dark green leaves and abundant white flowers. It is near thornless on the stems, but still has prickles on the undersides of the leaves. It sets hips well. Pretty Polly Pink is a little less fertile, but seems to cross more readily with wider genetics than Pretty Polly White. In the attached picture, there is a plant of Carefree Beauty behind it.
