So far I have found that the majority of my roses produce the usual bright yellow pollen that you would expect:

But two of my roses (Stanwell Perpetual and Out of Africa Children) have this odd bleached looking pollen:
Could this be a sign that the pollen of the rose has a lower fertility rate or that the pollen isn’t viable?
Probably not. Rugosa for example often have very pale pollen.some of the hulthemia types have red pollen.
I don’t think so. I believe it’s genetic, as are all the other pigment variations. I wish I could show you photos of Basye’s Purple pollen, it’s dark purple. It’s been several decades since I last grew it and didn’t take photos of it then. Pollen color varies quite a bit. Some simply looks like room dust while others are golden through various shades of yellow and even pink!
