pick hips yet?

I live in eastern ohio, there is frost forecast for Sunday night. I have several hips that aren’t orange yet, they were crossed in July. Should I pick them anyway? or try to cover with a paper bag? Any opinions?

Seed damage starts to occur at temps less than 25 deg F:

that seemed to be the consensus of previous discussions about this.

Green seeds from green hips are prone to mold and not likely to germinate, in my experience.

Some hips here in central Oh are still green, should ripen by early Nov.
