How do ypu transfer photos from flickr or photobucket to this forum? Thanx

Hi Dave. The first thing, if you aren’t already, is to size or take your photos to 300 dpi. That makes them transfer faster and should permit you to add more to your accounts without exceeding any limits. I apologize if you already thought of that, I hadn’t until relatively recently.

When you upload and save them to your accounts elsewhere, usually there is a “share” tab which shows you the code for the image. Copy that code, bring it here and then insert it into your post using the tenth icon above your post area, the small, square photo image of a mountain with the sun above where you’ll be typing. That allows you to insert the url for the image to the off forum photo location. If you’re using Flickr, save the image to Flicker and use the blue and red Flickr icon on the right above your post screen and it will walk you through the steps.

Or, you may use the “attach a file…” function above your post screen to the left corner to upload an image from your hard drive directly to your post. Phorum 5 and the powers that be of the RHA have really gone all out to make image and information sharing tremendously easy, convenient and fun, haven’t they? It’s much easier and more convenient than posting images to Garden Web and it very much like placing them in a blog on Blogspot.com. I hope I explained it well enough to get you pointed in the right direction. If I haven’t, please ask. If I can’t explain it well enough, I know others can.

Kim,

Thanx for respondimg.

Lets concentrate on flickr.

You say, use the blue and red flickr icon on right above post screen. Do you mean the “start a new thread” page on the forum? No such icon there.

Where is this “tenth icon with a small square photo of a mountain”? Is this on the forum control page?

Thanx again.

David, where I am typing this right now, directly above where I am typing, I see this tool bar.

I have included these images using this “Attach another file…” command.

This one you may use to include a link to a photo posted elsewhere on the web.

The limit for uploading from your hard drive, flash card or memory stick is three, which I’ve just reached, so the next ones I’ll upload from Flickr.

I copied the code from Flickr for this image to show you what I see on my RHA screen for Flickr.

[/url]

Then pasted it into the message body above where I typed this line. I hope it inserts the image as it isn’t showing it in the preview. Guess I’ll have to post the message to see.

For some reason, Flickr isn’t responding properly right now and I don’t see why. Perhaps it will for someone else?

So, I’ll attach the file using the file attach command above to show what I wanted it to place here.

That is what you should see at the right of the tool bar above where you type your message. Usually, clicking on that Flickr blue and red icon opens the appropriate command to permit you to insert the photos you’ve posted to Flickr in your message.

Using the “attach a file” command permits you to upload the image from your computer without having to upload it to Flickr or use the Insert image URL icon for other photo storage sites.

Does any of this help?

The top of my message screen does not display the 20-icon tool bar. This is likely the basic problem.

Now to figure how to get toolbar to display.

OK, I thought as much, but I’m not familiar enough with it to know what to suggest to change that. I just played with the ‘switch view’ which fixed an earlier problem to see if that had anything to do with it, but it didn’t change my tool bar.

I’m sure when some of the others more familiar with it than I log on later today, some of them will know how to change it. I’m sorry!

Try this David, go to your profile here by clicking on your name in an earlier thread post. Click on “Control Center”, scroll down to “template” and see what it’s set to on the drop down menu. Mine is set to “default”. I hope yours isn’t so by changing it you’ll have the same tool bar. Hope that fixes it!

My forum settings template is default

OK, thanks, I guess we wait until others get home from work, finished with dinner and settle in for some web surfing. Thanks.

Kim, When “Mr Admin” has had his/her dinner, you know the one I am talking about, lives next door to the whitehouse when you look at thier “location”, will be able to help DaveW out I bet.

Progress: toolbar now appears.

Blue and red flicr icon does not appear anywhere.

How did you get the tool bar? My Flickr icon still just sits and looks at me when clicked.

clicking on “flickr” on tool bar brings up “error on page” message.

flickr must need to be enabled somehow.

Kim mentioned that flickr is down? maybe thats the problem now.

You do need to activate Flickr, which I did some time ago and have used it many times. There is a thread here about activating it you should be able to find in the search function. Flickr is working for me, but not the Flickr icon on this post screen. It just doesn’t do anything, while it’s supposed to open a window to permit you to select and insert photos you’ve deposited there.

Kim, I think if you as moderator or DaveW go back to search, I had the same issues. From memory, you have to find the embeded thing(you understand don’t you Kim, HeHeHe.) I had to registar or something. the other option from Admin was use another browers, loke, firefox, don’t quote.

Kim is it possible to pull all, posts, threads or what ever that I have been in, this might help Dave.

These are my humble thoughts.

Yes David, that embedded click on word which isn’t very obvious, to register with Flickr. That could be Dave’s problem, but not the fact that my Flickr icon doesn’t DO anything today. I am registered with Flickr, have an account, have registered and used them to upload images here. Something else is amiss here.

Dave W. if you can get the Flickr icon to open the registration window, there is one word (I forget what it is) that is in a slightly different color and is a clickable link. Slide your cursor over the words in the instructions in that window until you find one which permits you to click on it and that should get you going with registering with them.

Red and blue dots. Have never appeared.

I don’t have a flickr account, but I can confirm from my end, when I press the flickr button in the message reply area it shows up this window:

Hope this helps someone.
