When a rose has disease resistance listed as,
excellent with respect to secondary leafspot and powdery mildew
, does secondary leaf spot speak to leaf spots other than blackspot?

I’m possible to answer that, but it tends to mean cerco/anthrac., and sometimes downy in certain conditions, but that should be listed separately. With that said, the USPTO tends to want Genus species in italicized form, but it depends on the strictness and knowledge of the examiner. In fact, the examiner holds all of the cards unless it goes into appeals and the like. That almost never happens with plants cause there are so very few plant patent examiners to begin with. They consider is completely auxiliary to all other patent departments.
So, I cannot give you an exact answer, but that is what I can tell you.
Thank you Michael.
