Proven winners has this one as being hardy to zone 3b. Does anyone have any experience that would confirm that?
Hi Rob,
I have grown multiple plants of it in zone 4 for years. It a nice rose. It routinely died back to the soil line below the mulch and would come back from the crown.
Hi David,
Thank you for sharing your experience with this rose. I’m glad to hear that it is at least crown hardy in your zone 4. I’ve seen this one listed to zone 3 and thought this would be a good one to add to my breeding program for hardiness but looking at the parentage I thought zone 3 might be questionable.
It is triploid, but seems to have some limited fertility. It is a parent of the diploid Oso Easy Lemon Zest with the other parent being the diploid rose Yellow Ribbons.
I have one we just had a zone 5 winter over 120 inch of snow, it died back to a few inches and is not about 2.5 X 2.5 two bloom sets so fare no health issues I’ve seen in 3 years.
Thank you. I think the zone 3 questionable.
