Opinions on the rarer Antique Rose Emporium offerings?

By which I mean the ones Mike Shoup or the ARE team have hybridized themselves or others that are not too popular or not available elsewhere, i.e. ‘Gold Blush’

Interested in particular in ‘Lady Pamela Carol’ , ‘Anson Jones’ , ‘Jane Bullock’ , ‘Sweet Pea’ , and so on.

They showcase them all in this section of their site.

They appear to have a nice enough sale going for black friday, btw. (Not an ad of course!)

Would love any insight, there’s rather limited information on most of them, mostly due to the lack of distribution I would imagine. In looks alone I’m quite fond of Sweet Pea and Lady Pamela. I also like Ron’ Vision, but there’s few pictures to be sure in HMF.

A few of them are high up on my hybridizing wishlist.

ARE uses some really strong roses like Carefree Beauty and Iceberg, along with desirable genetics from things like Wichuranas, Chinas, and Basye’s Blueberry. Very obvious that they breed for roses suitable to the hot, humid climate of Texas. A few examples:

Thomas Affleck: Carefree Beauty × Basye’s Blueberry
1000 Wishes: (Carefree Beauty × [ Old Blush × R. Wichurana ‘Thornless’]) x Miracle on the Hudson

Roemer’s Hip Happy: [Carefree Beauty × Heritage ®] x Iceberg

Check out Lasting Memories. It’s a descendant of Thomas Affleck with a stronger scent

I have a few. I really like Birthday Cake, Sweet Pea and Ray Ponton. I have Sweet Pea and Ray Ponton growing near each other and love how the flowers look together.

Southern Sweet Tea is very thorny with small flowers, but it’s pretty and I moved it to the back of the border where I’m not as likely to get scratched.

Cole’s Settlement is a great one. Very healthy, makes lots of flowers and lots of hips, and I’ve had some seedlings but none of them survive the first summer.

Roemer’s Hip-Happy lives up to its name, for sure. I do have a few seedlings from that one.

I have Star of the Republic. It’s still very small and hasn’t bloomed much yet. I’ve seen pictures and am looking forward to seeing how it does.

I’m not sure whether Vick’s Caprice or Deanna Krause are Shoup roses, but both are excellent performers for me. Promises is also really nice, and makes a lot of hips.

Femme Fatale has already proven to be a great momma….I have three babies this year - they are all SUPER healthy, propagate like a weed, have some fragrance….I already have two more ready to go next spring.

I’d be curious to know what color blooms Femme Fatale likes to produce in its seedlings.

Here are three….first two from Pinkerbelle and third is from Honey Dijon.

Nice! The striping of peach swirl, I am guessing isn’t regained in any future progeny?
