O.P. Banshee, and should I mark the cane?

I have several plants of Banshee and their neighbors are a diverse group of roses, most flower about the same time as Banshee.

Banshees are now about five years old and have set few if any open pollinated hips.

This year I’ve got one big, full of seeds hip coming on.

Is this more likely to be a ploidy aberration in that hip, or could it be from that stem?

I do plan to mark the stem for watching next year, but this is on a deer trail, and I could do more than just mark it, if need be.

Suggestions?

Banshee produces a few hips every year for me. The seeds have never germinated when I’ve sown them. Maybe you’ll have better luck, who knows?
