Only tangential to nature’s signal roses have pollen.
How a flying bug could miss it is beyond comprehension, even has nature’s airport fly location marked(red), directional runways marked (4 90 deg choice - white), central parking/pads, control tower and terminal marked by runways’ X. Its the “X” that marks the spot and rivets the eyes, or Danish flag cross turned sideways.
Danish Flag Poppy in Garden 1 st year - apparently opiate variety. Closes at night like a 2 dimensional clam.
Still deciding where it falls on bar endpoints of “stunning” to “garish”. Favouring stunning “POW!” factor.

But much for me, however I appreciate it’s flair

Actually got the seeds for a number of the poppies and sweet peas down in a Cornish garden centre last July … some available in Canada. Better selection in UK.
All germinated well, but as usual could not get any of the meconopsis 3 varieties from Burncoose Nursery to germinate … tough Himalayan poppy, others a breeze.

Never been to that nursery but did buy a rhododendron online from them… Cornish red… Not sure where I would ever put it in the ground

Interesting, that’s a mighty tall one … sounds like might need to lease estate space on one of Capability Brown’s client’s property.
I would be remise not to mention l learned the difference between garden centre and nursery on this trip. One has lawn furniture and BBQs for sale, and other does not, and tends to grow nearly all its own stock for retail - not repot.

It’s currently 28degC and I’m drinking my dinner because it’s too hot to cook. Couple of bananas, half a cucumber, a big handful of frozen berries, and some iced mint tea.

A fresh high lustre black peony looking a lot better before sun gets at it. Among ladybug, californian, Hansa, Williams Double Yellow … and v. young A&B accidentally pollenated by bees. Actually notice 2 of 3 fortuitous accidental encounters and tagged them as unknown.
Btw, only good Alberta grass fed beef on the bar-be here for supper … no corn fed … had that down in deep south …

What are the hanging flowers in the pic?

Brugmansia. It looks like a double pink.

Roseseek is right; it’s a Brugmansia I grew from a seedling germinated and gifted me by a friend.
