Though l understand the paper is focused on mechanical and chemical scarification methods to enhance germination … l still have a related thermal environment comparative basic germination effect test data conundrum gap.

None l have looked through ask, or test the single variable question does just below 0C ( ~ -2 +/-) with total water content ( inclusive of humidity ) constant, improve germination compared to same seeds stratified at above freezing?

And for test seeds from plants native to areas with winter ground frost penetration (not permafrost).

Some general public domain have seed banks apparently at 50F - still think l read the plus wrong. Global - private - government apocalypse banks hold at -18C and constant humidity ( e.g. Svalbard Global Seed Vault).

Though no statement about germination changes to be expect.
