K23-15 Jelinek

Last year I used pollen from Crested Gilead (Jelinek) . I just planted the one result so far. It is 18” tall, and has quite a few buds. The unfading yellow flowers are single and semi-double about 2” to 2-1/2” in diameter. The cross was Crested Gilead (Jelinek) X two pollens: Apricot Smoothie (Jelinek) X Morning Has Broken and pollen from Baby Love, miniature, dark yellow, 1992 Scrivens. I believe the pollen that took was Baby Love, from the short well-shaped bush, smaller foliage, elongated sepals, some cresting. So far it’s very disease resistant, no mildew or black spot. I’d like to see shorter well-shaped bushes, 1-1/2 to 3 ft high in future crested roses.

We’ve got more blooms on K23-15 now, and they are double and the yellow hue has become more orange. The parent plant, Crested Gilead, has a coral hue in its bloom. It came from Crested Abundance (pink) crossed with Shockwave, which was yellow.
