Mr Lincoln-F1 & F2

Out of 1000s of seed from Mr Lincoln I have one living sickly F1 that set seed last year. The seed germinated good and they looked okay till the mildew got all but one. This is an F2 from 24-1 almost a three inch flower.

It has something modern in it, which is denoted by the rouded petals.

I like the round petals and this is sort of a back door to get something from Mr Lincoln. I was going to give up on Mr Lincoln but will try Olypiad and maybe a few others this year, something with seedling figor. Neil

I gave up on red HT’s, to be honest. They were a pain in the butt to work with.

Pride of England is the best red HT I ever grew, but it was seemingly infertile both ways.

Firefighter was a good sniffer, but it didnt produce anything remotely nice for me.

I know what you mean, I pruned last year and now have a single flower with a five foot stem on Mr Lincoln and others have single flowers on three and four foot stems. Aside from that the reds haven’t worked very well up to this year. Two things changed my mind two lots of seed from afar have produced multiple keepers and something I been thinking about for a long time, is there a difference between early and very late germination, and there are some really good reds from late germination last year.
