I was surprised and happy to see a blossom on my only Lemon Fizz x R. carolina seedling today.
Nice Joe, good looking plant from your shot.
Nice!
I haven’t had any luck with ‘Lemon Fizz’ yet.
That’s really attractive, Joe! Congratulations!
Joe, how many years did it take before the plant produced a bloom?
Julie
Thanks, everybody!
Julie, this seedling germinated I believe in the spring of 2015, so this is its third growing season. I don’t recall it blooming last year. I was surprise to see these few blossoms.
Nice color and looks to be very healthy. Very nice Joe!
If you need a test garden for BS I’d be happy to test for you.
Very nice. Love the potential I imagine that one offers for future progeny and trust you are diligently matchmaking with that one!
Leave it to Julie to ask the pertinent question! It’s lovely, Joe, and the foliage probably has nice fall color too.
Betsy
That is a nice first generation flower. And third season bloom is not bad!
Thanks again, everybody!
My concern is that, with Lemon Fizz being a triploid, this plant might also be a triploid that is 2/3 R. carolina. That would make recovering rebloom in the next generation even more of a long shot.
I belive there is a big chance your new rose is tetraploid. Try some self pollination and see what happens. If you would pollinate it with Lemon Fizz, there is, I believe a big change the offspring will be triploid though…
