These are two L83 (OP) seedlings that I’m keeping an eye on. KM01 is a miniature that has very small leaves. Plant is about 12" in height. K01 has larger leaves than KM01 but not as big as a typical rose. The plant is about 3’ tall. Both are disease free for me and have had no winter die back.
K01 will be in bloom for the first time in a week or two and I plan on breeding it this season. I hope that the miniature sibling will bloom this year as well. I would like to try that one with some miniatures I have; Softee, Childs Play and Rose Gilardi seedlings of mine. Looking for minatures with health and hardiness.
I have a few Rise 'N Shine x L83 seedlings growing right now. Most however are not very miniature looking and a few have shiny foliage but none have foliage as shiny as yours. The direction you are going with your work is the same direction I am trying to go. I got a few side projects but this is my main goal. Good luck!!
Thank you. The leaves are very shiny and the size of the leaves runs more toward R. wichuraiana in size.
I have some seedlings of Paul Barden’s that I’m growing that are in bud this season. They all have L83 as the pollen parent. This is the first year I can report to Paul with pictures of blooms. The seed parents he used are (Penny Ante x Tradescant), (Little Darling x Yellow Magic) and Golden Angel. The Golden Angel x L83 looks like it will be a yellow bloom and is definitely a climbing miniature. Very healthy too. There’s some good miniature genes for me to work with this year from that group. All have great disease resistance.
