I have access to some Joseph’s Coat OP hips. I read on HMF that this one has some disease issues but both parents of JC are indicated as having excellent disease resistance. I’m wondering how disease resistance would be in Josephs’ Coat OP F1. Any comments?
I can only comment on how it turned out with CArefree Beauty. I have a bush that is a large shrub, 6-8 ft where JC was the pollen donor and CB the seed. It gets BS moderately. JC was worse and not all that winter hardy. I lost JC after about a decade but that was 2 decades ago when winters were colder. The F1 is good to somewhere below 0, for a few days per winter anyway. JC at a location in town where sheltered by walls does fine, and doesn’t seem to have BS issues, but no other roses nearby. Of course I discarded quite a few seedlings and kept only one. That is a decent parent for breeding yellows.
Thank you Larry. This plant is situated next to Can Can. Maybe I can get a decent color with some good resistance.
