Indian Love Call - Disease report

I wanted to report that ‘Indian Love Call’ so far even as a young plant not much bigger than about a foot and a half right now and has not yet bloomed for me yet since acquiring it last year, is so far 100% disease resistant at least in passing glances, and has yet to show any real signs of blackspot or mildew or at least yellowing of leaves here grown no-spray in the Mid-Atlantic region, possibly the most blackspot prone region in the US (moreso than the deep south even). A great deal of my other roses have some blackspot, I have others that tend to stay cleaner and as of right now that’s Palustris scandens, ‘Softee’ (surprise there), from what foliage can be seen on my band size ‘Unconditional Love’ is still shiny green overall. ‘Crepuscule’ and ‘Plaisanterie’ and my rugosas are also generally clean as well, ‘Crepusucle’ rather strangely so as always.

It’s not in the best of spots either, and I let wild violets grow in the same bed so sometimes foliage from them and the grass outside the bed, weeds can sometimes encroach upon it’s space, but it seems to be doing well, I just rip out the offenders.

I hope this means good things to come because repeating roses can be bred first generation straight out of ‘Indian Love Call’ as seen in that awesome yellow shrub Kim bred out of it. That possibly means they can be extremely resistant as well.

Thanks Max! I’m thrilled ILC is performing so well for you, but I honestly did expect it to. That combination has created a pretty special rose in quite a few ways. Wait until the autumn foliage colors kick in! BTW, I collected mini hips yesterday with ILC pollen. Hall of Flowers is not from the 1-72-1 line but does have similar ancestors, substituting New Penny for Yellow Magic. It’s going to be interesting seeing the results! Kim
